PASYKAF
2021, Nicosia
Type: Architectural Competition
Size: 3000 m²
Status: Ideas-drafts
Competition entry for the new Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends building. PASYKAF is a voluntary, non-profit, charitable organization providing professional health and home palliative care services to cancer patients, as well as prevention programs. The proposal’s main idea was to focus and accommodate the full human aspect of the users instead of designing for an institutionalized “patient”. We imagined spaces of domestic scale and characteristics, without solid boundaries, integrated into the natural environment and extended to the open space. Thus, the building was designed “from the inside out” and as a pavilion in a park. Low in height and “light” construction with transparent boundaries between interior and exterior, where nature and building complement each other, while ensuring a protected environment, a ” refuge “escape from the city.
